Testimonials

Catherine from Surrey, Autism

I would like to thank you for all the help and support you have given us these past months. As a parent of a 3 year old boy with autism and speech and motor delay I am always researching and trying new therapies in the hope of improving his social and communication skills.I have tried many interventions such as Son Rise, homeopathy, special diets and cranial sacral therapy all of which have helped him however I believe that the most obvious changes have come since we started your program in January 2010.

The most significant change is his cognition. Before we started the program he did not understand any language at all. Now I feel like he is finally starting to understand what we are saying to him and is even following instructions. He is much more aware of his surroundings and pays more attention to what people are saying to him and he is really making an effort to communicate even though he finds it hard to find the words. His delayed speech has been one of my biggest worries. We have however had some words since starting the program. The other day he was in my daughter's bedroom and he wanted to get up onto her bunk bed but the ladder was up. He turned and looked at both of us and said ladder so we pulled it down and he climbed up. Another time I took the kids for a sleep over at my parents house. He  has become very clingy to me recently realised I was going to leave him and grabbed my arm and said mum no go no go. At 3 years old he has only ever been able to utter a couple of words or the beginning of words so the fact he strung together a sentence was very exciting.

He has also become much more patient and understands he sometimes has to wait for things instead of flying off into a tantrum and I find it much easier to take him out with me even a shopping trip around Bluewater center! His eye contact and range of facial expressions have also improved and he is much more cheeky and expressive and seems to get jokes. He is still quite sensitive to touch but he is no longer screaming in terror in the bath when I was his hair and he lets me cut and clean his nails.

He is now in nursery and I have a place for him to start in a mainstream school next year which is such a relief as I have been very worried about his future. Although his progress is quite up and down with some regression (and what I call mad hatter moments!) at times overall for the first time I am starting to relax and feel confident about his progress and his future and have the feeling like things will be fine which is a huge relief.

So thanks Hemispheres for your ongoing support!
